Travel Opportunities

     Raise your hand if you have a case of wanderlust! (HERE!! I DO!). I love to just go places and explore. By boat, plane, train, automobile, you name it. I even have a cute 1978 Shasta motor home so that we can throw the dogs in and go if we want to! With a motor home, you are sure to have some adventures.

     Like the time we took the motor home to Oregon. And broke down in Mt. Shasta City late at night.

     Do you love to escape by plane? Like the time Chris and I flew to Nashville, TN. Because there was a total solar eclipse.

     We had a little tequila tasting/pool/pizza/eclipse viewing party at a friend's home.

      How about a good staycation? Living where I do, right smack in the middle of California, we have our choice of the mountains, the beach, the country, and big cities if we just want to day trip.

     We went up to the snow in Nevada City, Ca.

     I've been interested in all things zodiac since I was a kid. I used to read my horoscope in the newspaper every morning. While I've never gotten my house done (bucket list), I do know my rising sign (Scorpio) and moon sign (Virgo). This combo makes me a fairly twisted SOB sometimes, HA!

Succulent love

     Do you love succulents? My daughter just professed her succulent addiction to me, and I can't blame her! These cute plants are hardy in a warm climate, and make great houseplants as well. They are super fun to grow and all have their own distinct personalities.

     Recently, someone in my town had trimmed and culled her aloe and succulent plants. She put the word out of Facebook that she was giving away the trimmings. SCORE!! For the next three days, I picked up plants and brought them home and replanted them. I was using any container I could find, from old pots, to tomato sauce cans, to beer and soda cans! As long as there is enough drainage, you can get really creative! The secret to drainage is making sure that there are drainage holes in the bottom of your container, and using potting soil specifically made for cactus/succulents.

     Here are some of the plants now!

      How about this jade plant?? This one was fairly limp when I picked it up. I replanted it right away, gave it plenty of water, and look at how well it came back!

     It is even making new leaves. I plucked one of these sets of leaves and replanted. I am super into trying to propagate these plants. How fun would it be to have a succulent "farm"??

      Here is a close up of it's rooster friend. The rooster is nestled in mint.

     I was really planting in anything and everything. I do think that the cans add extra personality to the group.

     Plenty of water has been key to keeping all of these alive. Some of the aloe looked so dead, but I was hesitant to get rid of them. I'm glad I didn't, because they are ALL alive and growing!

     Take a look at that bud vase. That is a wine bottle! I found this at World Market and literally bought it for the bottle. The wine was good, and how stinking cute is this bottle as a bud vase?? The wine is Moselland Riesling.

Country Music Singer James Wesley

     If you've spent any time on my social networks (especially Twitter!!), you'll know that I am a fan of country music. My playlist is actually quite diverse, I am NOT one of those "country music is the only music" kind of people, but still... country does dominate in my house. That said, let me introduce you to a guy who has been around for a while, but is still gaining new fans with his traditional style. James Wesley has been a household favorite of ours for several years and Chris and I are super fortunate to be able to see him play fairly often lately.

     If you get a chance to catch James on tour, definitely go check him out! He puts on a good show and he is the real deal. No autotune needed here.

     For California peeps, James will be performing at the San Benito County Fair this Saturday, October 6, 2018. Come on down!
