All Things Bright and Beautiful

As a kid I was obsessed with James Herriot's books. James Herriot is the pseudonym of an English country veterinarian, James Alfred Wight. James Herriot wrote of his patients, clients, and crazy experiences as a country veterinarian. I have always been an animal lover and even dreamed of becoming a veterinarian when I was a child. This was never to be, however I have worked on and off in animal fields for many years.
My current animal related position (besides as "mom" to my houseful of fur babies) is as a volunteer for our city animal shelter. It is a position that is as full of happiness and triumph as it is full of despair and heartbreak.

Many of the bracelets I make are from my own favorite books. While I know that there are some people who could "never destroy a book", I do find it fairly cathartic and am easily immersed in the process of my bead making. I've been caught more than once re-reading the pages when I should be gluing beads. When I am putting together a bracelet, I get a little jolt of excitement when I see the name of a favorite character, much like I imagine you all do when you read the beads on your own bracelets.
All Things Bright and Beautiful, by James Herriot, is one such book. I think it is fun to wear a reminder of what took hold of my heart a long time ago.

Tell me, what is the thing that gripped your heart and continues to pull you towards it?
