Crochet Over Silver Stacking Bangle Bracelets

Remember Madonna, back in the 80s, when she wore the armful of bracelets? Even if you're not old enough, you know what I'm talking about.

Madonna

All of us tweens / teens wore big bows in our hair and arm loads of bracelets, lol! So I was tickled to find a big stack of silver bangles at the thrift store recently. Ummm, 39 of them! They look similar to these:

These are gorgeous. Mine are tarnished and dull. So I crocheted over mine with cotton thread.

Some of them had cute sparklies on them. I just added hooks to them, I think they make adorable over sized earrings.

So that makes 10 bracelet upcycles. 29 more to go! Yay!!

Cocktail Ring Upcycle

This piece was fairly accidental in its making ~ I didn't have it planned at all. I bought these blank rings because I wanted to make crocheted flower cocktail rings ( I did make one, stay tuned for that ). However, I was looking through my jewelry makings and I happened across a cute broken floral necklace. I did buy it broken from the Salvation Army about two years ago and still had some left over flowers :)
I looked at the flowers and then pretty much ran for my glue gun and the rings. This was the easiest craft EVER! And, one of the cutest if I may say so myself. So now, I just might be on the lookout for more costume jewelry that I can take apart.

The little holes left over from where the necklace chains went aren't really this visible in real life.

Really, guys, find a trinket you love, make sure any backings or chains are removed, add a glob of hot glue to the ring form and squish your trinket in. Hold it together for a minute or two and you're done! I found my rings at Hobby Lobby.

The rings are even adjustable.

I had some "help" when I photographed this ring.

I made one with a black flower as well. Its so stinkin' cute! Its all wrapped up for a birthday gift. I can't wait until she sees it!!!

Denim Beaded Necklace

Okay, this one is also not actually embroidery. Although, if I stitched the beads with embroidery thread does that count???
I have had this one on my mind for days now, it has been begging to be made into something concrete. Finally I was able to do this today. I made beads from old jeans and gold toned crafting wire ( 24 gauge, I believe ). I cut pieces of wire, looped the ends, wrapped denim around the wire and sewed it on. The more I did, the faster and easier it became and before I knew it, I had 21 beads. Alternating with blue glass beads, I made an entire statement necklace from them.

When I showed this to the family, all of them said "What is this? It looks like denim? It is so cool!!!"
Oh, how I love compliments and validation <3
