I Love the Salvation Army!

I love Salvation Army. My "local" store (local in quotations because it still takes me an hour to get there) has 50% Fridays. Since I had to be in that area anyway today I shopped and SCORED! Check it out:

Sheets, sheets and more sheets from Salvation Army

Remember my quilt in progress? This will be the backing. Yay!

This map sheet is to die for!!

I also found this blazer for five bucks. So cute!! I think I am going to embroider some super adorable design on it and likely put it for sale in my Etsy shop.

The only thing I didn't photograph was a twin sized mattress cover. If I don't use for Jezebel (the motor home) then it will go on my daughter's bed.

This entire lot cost me a whopping

$15.55

What did I say? Score, right??

Quilt ~ In Progress

The inspiration:

Denim Blanket from MintBasil

The embroidery (project in progress):

Let's all remember here that I was inspired by the above quilt (as well as others) but have no intentions to try to copy it.....
Following are a few quilt squares that I have been making. My idea is to hand embroider a few, machine sew most of them and sew them together with the edges out for the frayed look. I am sewing together two denim squares, 7" x 7", with no batting. My intent is that the back denim will serve as the batting material (ever held a denim quilt? They're heavy) and when it's all done, I will use a cute cotton sheet, hopefully vintage and floral,  for a solid backing. We'll see how it goes.....
