Crocheted Rag Rug

How are you all? I've seen on the news that the country is in the grip of a flu epidemic. Only California and Alabama are left. Right now my own house is seeing some sickness- not the confined to bed kind but the kind where you are just too worn to be able to do much of anything involving energy. And I haven't bounced back yet from a trip to Southern Oregon. It was a fun trip but it was all about helping my mom move to a new place so it was tiring. And a little cold. Here is a photo I took on my old crackberry. There was sleet and snow falling in the Rogue Valley as well, it just didn't stick as it did in the mountains. On the day I got there, there were big, beautiful flakes falling. It was cool but after surviving my scary drive through the mountains, I didn't care as much as I normally would have. My windshield froze up and for a few minutes I couldn't see a thing. I followed the snow plow because I could see his flashing yellow lights and that was it. Bleh, I will be happy if I never have such a thing happen again.

So while I was just hanging around in my quest for recovery, I tore up some sheets and got around to something that has been on my mind for a while - rag rugs. I even got myself a big, fat crochet hook a few weeks ago. If you follow my on Pinterest you may have seen some beautiful rugs I pinned there for inspiration.
My rug turned out shabby. Not tight and neat like you would find in Grandma's house but loose with little ragged ends. Since I was going for shabby I suppose I did well, lol! Not bad for my first one. I do need to perfect rolling the edges in, that does seem to be a problem for me. I began another shabby, I don't know yet whether it will be a rug or throw. It would make a nice, heavy throw....
Here is my cutie little rag rug:

You can see that this sheet had a run in with bleach at one time. The effect is much cuter in real life than it is in the photos.

Haha, here is my poor staging attempt! I love the antique armoire in the background but um, I need to wait for the sunlight to move on a bit.

I like it, I will be doing more of these. They make nice, plushy (and durable!!!) throw rugs for the bathroom. Or cute pet beds. I suspect they will be stolen by the fur babies for the latter.
