Maybe I should change the name of this blog to crocheterie. Because I have pretty much abandoned embroidery lately. Hmmmmmm. (Haha, I just looked. Its already taken)
I have been working on some cotton placemats for my kitchen table. I am on #3 for a set of 5. I will show at least one of them soon. I like them a lot and am looking forward to having them finished and on to the table. Until then I thought I would try out some cotton coasters in the same pattern. I really like them. The ones I made are multi colored and I think they will be so adorable in any color. The pattern I used was inspired by the pattern for this beautiful
granny mandala.
Beautiful, right? I wasn't after a colorful mandala but I was after a granny circle.

I followed the pattern except I stopped after the fourth row and added my trim.

I did the trim the same as the mandala pattern. It begins with a row of single crochet after the fourth granny row. Then slip stitch 2 in the next two sc. Then sc, hdc, sc - all in the same space. 2 sl, sc-hdc-sc and repeat all the way around.

Isn't it adorable?

I'm gonna make a whole stack of these. In all colors!

I like cotton for this project because of it's absorbency. I can just imagine condensation drops rolling off acrylic, lol!

Yep, I think I will make a bunch and put them all over the house. Then I'll make a bunch more because I know that the cats will steal them and hide them under the furniture.......
